Letter from the Secretary General

Esteemed Delegates, teachers and MUN directors,

It is my distinct honour to invite you all to the tenth annual session of the Oasis International School Model United Nations conference (OISMUN) which will be held for four days from the 3rd to the 6th of November of 2017, at the Oasis International School campus in Cairo, Egypt.

Affiliated by The Hague International Model United Nations (THIMUN), OISMUN is the only bilingual Model United Nations conference in Egypt with both French and English committees. We strive to constantly innovate OISMUN to offer a unique experience to all our participants.

The conference consists of six English Committees: the Security Council, the International Court of Justice, the General Assembly, the Human Rights Council, as well as two Sub-Commissions of the Economic and Social Council; the first one being the Commission on the Status of Women and the second one, newly introduced this year, is the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice. Delegates also have the opportunity to participle in three French committees, the Security Council (Conseil de Sécurité), the Human Rights Council (Conseil des Droits de l’Homme) and the Special Conference: Historical committee (Conférence Spéciale: Comité Historique) which offers delegates a chance to explore historical events through a modern point of view. The conference also offers thrilling crisis simulations which allow delegates to react and take actions with regard to real-life crises.

This year’s theme is “Aspiring  for Global Stability through international cooperation, empowerment and innovation”. The debate and resolutions of the conference will revolve around seeking long term economic, social and political stability. In today’s modern world, we believe that this could only be achieved through the cooperation of the international community, the empowerment of all age groups and social classes, as well as fostering innovation and technological development.

OISMUN gives you the chance to participate in thorough debates, research today’s world’s challenges, meet interesting people, enjoy unique outings and have fun. So, do not miss the opportunity to attend one of the top MUN conferences in Egypt.
